Philippines-based hypermarket operator Puregold has partnered Philippines mobile operator Globe Telecom. Under terms of the agreement, Puregold customers are expected to use Globe Telecom’s GCash m-commerce system in order to carry out payments via their mobile devices, according to online media outlet loqal.ph.

As a first step in the implementation, Puregold has introduced a Globe mobile POS reloading system. Puregold customers are expected to make cashless payments by using mobile credits stored on their handsets.

In August 2011, G-XChange (GXI), a subsidiary of Globe Telecom and operator of the m-commerce service GCash, has teamed up with financial services provider UnionBank of the Philippines to allow customers to link their UnionBank accounts to their GCash mobile wallets.
