Quatar: QNB rolls out upgraded mobile payment service

Financial services provider Qatar National Bank (QNB) has made available the upgraded eazypay mobile payment service, online media outlet gulf-times.com reports.

According to the source, the enhanced eazypay mobile payment service now includes merchant transactions, a new feature allowing vendors to carry out purchases via text messages. eazypay is a real-time payment system which connects to the customers’ bank accounts, allowing them to carry out funds transfers worth EUR 415 (QR 2000) on a daily basis The service was initially launched in September 2010, the same source reveals.

The same source highlights that merchants have to sign QNB’s mobile commerce agreement and customers have to register with QNB in order to access the eazypay service. Upon registration the initial payment request can be made either by the merchant or the customer.

Additionally, individual customers looking to carry out person-to-person transfers can continue to use eazypay to transfer funds to any QNB-registered individuals using the recipient’s mobile phone number.
