The RegaloCard service allows Guatemalan immigrants to remit money to friends and family at home. With annual money transfers worth USD 4 billion, representing 12 percent of the country’s GDP, Guatemala is one of the largest money transfer markets in Latin America.
RegaloCard provides a prepaid gift card that immigrants can purchase in the United States. Senders choose the gift card they wish to send to their families and provide the recipient’s name and phone number. The RegaloCard redemption PIN is delivered instantly via their mobile phone the chosen recipient in Guatemala, allowing the latter to make purchases at local retailers.
The RegaloCard service is compatible with all mobile handsets and carriers around the globe and has already been made available at test market locations in the US.
RegaloCard will be announcing shortly the retailers in Guatemala who have joined its mobile payments platform.
