Seamless, Garanti Bank team up for QR code-powered m-payments pilot in Romania

Friday 31 August 2012 11:27 CET | News

Turkey-based international financial services provider Garanti Bank has closed a partnership with Swedish mobile commerce software company Seamless to make available a direct mobile payments service through QR codes in Romania.

The two companies will jointly introduce the SEQR Mobile Payments in the Romanian market through a pilot project in partnership with local retail chains.

Seamless’s SEQR mobile payment service allows consumers to scan a QR code either at the cash register, on the Internet or on their bill to approve the amount being deducted from their bank accounts. The QR code identifies the payment recipient who is connected to Seamless’s transaction platform and consumers pay directly from their bank accounts or credit providers.

In recent news, Seamless has extended the functionality to its SEQR mobile payment service by adding a feature which allows Swedish users to send money to someone else’s bank account.
