SEQR launches mobile payments in Portugal

Tuesday 23 September 2014 | 09:25 AM CET

Swedish mobile commerce software company Seamless adds Portugal to the SEQR map with four merchants already signed for the new market.

Portugal is the fourth market where McDonald’s selects SEQR. Seamless is using SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) for the Portugal market, and Portugal is yet another market where the users can connect SEQR directly to their bank account.

Two restaurant chains including McDonald’s and Starfoods have signed agreements to launch SEQR in Portugal. In addition, the scientific toys company Science4You and the fashion group Lanidor (with about 200 stores) are among the first to roll out. SEQR collaborates with cash register system provider GrupoPIE on the Portugal market and the integration is underway.

SEQR is a mobile payment solution on the Swedish market that allows consumers to pay in stores and online. In addition to making payments, users can transfer money (P2P), save receipts digitally, connect loyalty programs, pay for parking and redeem offers through digital coupons.

In recent news, Seamless has entered an agreement with Ingram Micro Mobility Sweden and Ingram Micro Mobility Denmark to acquire their non-core mobile prepaid airtime line of business in Sweden and Denmark.
