Tuesday 5 February 2013 11:11 CET | News

Communications software company Skype has selected MACH, a Luxembourg-based provider of hub-based mobile communication services, to provide a new mobile payment option for Skype Credit in Russia and soon in the US and Canada, using MACH’s direct operator billing service.

With this new payment option, Skype users can purchase Skype Credit from their mobile devices through a browser-based transaction. They can pay for this transaction either as part of their monthly phone bill or using their mobile carrier’s pre-paid account balance.

The rollout of direct operator billing in additional countries and as a payment option for Skype users that are purchasing Skype Credit through a browser on their desktop, will continue throughout 2013.

MACH’s Direct Billing Gateway provides an operator billing service for mobile applications, content and mobile internet services, allowing providers to charge subscribers for services to their mobile phone bill or prepaid balance.

In recent news, UK-based micro-payment specialist GlobalCharge has selected MACH to launch its direct operator billing service in Germany.
