The service is available on iPhone and Android apps linked to a UnionPay card. It will be initially introduced in Hong Kong and Macau and will be launched in mainland China as part of a second-phase expansion. Users don’t need to change their SIM cards to use the platform unlike that of HKT Trust and HKT. SmarTone uses ultrasound technology that does not require any other interface.
