Sony Entertainment Network, Boku team up for direct carrier billing in the UK

Sony Network Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment have entered an agreement with US online mobile payments company Boku to support carrier billing in the UK, online media outlet engadget.com reports.

According to the source, as a result of the partnership between Sony and Boku, UK consumers are set to gain the ability to top up their account wallets and charge the purchases directly to their mobile accounts.

Consumers will be able to add funds through Sonys account management website and the PlayStation Store on PS3 by choosing mobile as the payment option, typing in their phone number and authorizing the transaction by responding to an SMS, the source indicates. The new feature is reportedly compatible with and set to be available via all UK carriers.

In recent news, Boku has entered an agreement with global platform for games on TV PlayJam to bring carrier billing to smart televisions and other consumer electronics, including devices from Samsung, Panasonic, LGE, Vizio, Western Digital, Google TV and VESTEL.
