South Africa: FNB rolls out ATM cash withdrawals via mobile phones

Thursday 24 March 2011 11:33 CET | News

South Africa-based financial institution First National Bank (FNB) has launched a cash withdrawal service available via its Cellphone Banking offering.

As a result, the bank is expected to enable its Cellphone Banking customers to withdraw cash directly from their FNB transactional account at an FNB ATM without using bank cards.

How it works

Customers need to login to the bank’s Cellphone Banking service, select the banking option and then the Withdraw Cash option. Moreover, customers have to specify the account from which they want to withdraw cash, such as a cheque account or a savings account. When the transaction is completed, the customer has to receive an SMS notification with a temporary ATM PIN to use at the ATM.

FNB Bank provides banking services to more than 6 million customers across the South African territory.
