Spain: Movistar Remesas, MoneyGram ink contract

Global payment services company MoneyGram has entered an agreement with Movistar Remesas, a division of Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica.

Under the terms of the deal, Movistar Remesas is expected to provide Spanish customers with money transfer services via MoneyGram’s locations across the country.

Movistar Remesas has currently introduced MoneyGram services to 25 of its locations and the company is planning to roll out the service in other locations by the end of the year.

Movistar Remesas operates 1500 retail locations in Spain. MoneyGram counts over 11,000 agent locations throughout Spain.

In a recent development , MoneyGram International has entered an agreement with Visa to launch MoneyGram’s first cash-to-Visa account program for remittances from the US to Mexico.
