Tanzania: Vodacom customers to pay for car fuel using M-Pesa

Vodacom Tanzania, a mobile communication services provider, has entered a partnership with provider of petroleum products fuels and furnace oils Total Tanzania.

Under the terms of the partnership, motorists are set to be able to refuel their vehicles and pay via M-Pesa mobile payments service.

Customers will have to dial a given number and follow the instructions to re-fill their vehicles. They will be required to enter the payment code which is also available at the designated stations.

There are approximately 55,000 M-Pesa agents spread across the country.
