Indias wireless internet services provider Tata Teleservices has partnered financial services provider Corporation Bank and Indian mobile commerce company PayMate for the launch of a mobile money transfer service, Business Standard reports.

Dubbed the Green Money Transfer, the service enables mobile phone users to make money transfers instantly using their handsets to authorise the transfer. In order to transfer a certain amount, customers must visit a registered TATA PCO or True Value Shop and place a request for money remittance of up to Rs 5,000 to anyone living in the country. The recipient can collect the money from the registered outlets with a transaction authorisation code sent by the sender.

The service has been launched on a pilot basis in Kerala and is to be officially launched in the next 12 months.
