The Co-operative Bank selects Monitise for m-banking services

Financial services provider the Co-operative Bank has selected UK-based mobile financial technology company Monitise to provide mobile banking services to its customers and account holders as part of a three-year deal.

The service can be accessed by smartphone users through mobile applications and also by consumers who do not own a smartphone through SMS alerts.

The smartphone app allows customers to check their balance or access statements for accounts, find cashpoints and branches and set up alerts and SMS balance updates. The app is initially available on iPhone devices, with further versions set to follow.

Customers who do not own smartphones have access to the SMS mobile banking service that enables them to register for and manage weekly balance alerts as well as set up messages to inform them when their balance reaches a specific amount.

In recent news, Monitise has entered an acquisition agreement with US-based mobile banking services provider Clairmail. Monitise is set to acquire Clairmail for USD 173 million.
