Think Computer launches mobile payments service

Monday 31 May 2010 10:32 CET | News

US-based business software developer Think Computer has rolled out a mobile payment service designed to enable customers in the US to pay for purchases using their mobile devices.

Dubbed FaceCash, the application provides users with details about their purchases via the electronic receipts generated every time a FaceCash transaction is performed. In addition, the service records line item transaction data to offer further purchase information to the buyer. FaceCash uses barcode technology to enable payment transactions in restaurants, clothing stores and other retail shops.

To be able to pay with FaceCash, users have to pre-fund their FaceCash accounts by transferring money from a checking or savings account. The application features a security system that makes the buyers face appear on the sellers web-based point of sale system every time a FaceCash purchase is made.

FaceCash applications are available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry phones. Those with other types of phones can still use FaceCash through the mobile web client.
