Turkcell, SmartSoft, Plastkart team up for NFC mobile payments platform

SmartSoft has teamed up with Turkish mobile operator Turkcell and card company Plastkart to roll out a MNO Mobile Network Operator (MNO) Trusted Service Manager (TSM) mobile offering for NFC payments approved by MasterCard. SmartSoft is a provider of card payment and issuance, NFC payments and EMV chip-based training technologies.

As a result, the newly-announced MNO TSM service is expected to enable SmartSoft to allow for the adoption and deployment of its NFC payment systems in Europe and the America. With the new platform, customers can carry out daily shopping and, as part of future developments, is set to be used by customers with transportation, campus and loyalty applications as well.

Turkcell counts over 33.1 million subscribers.

In a recent development , Turkcell and local financial institution Garanti Bank have jointly launched a prepaid card, dubbed Cep-T ParaCard. The service is a SIM-based offering that can be used with any mobile device.
