US m-payments start-up Clinkle opens waiting lists to more US college students – report

Monday 22 July 2013 08:24 CET | News

US mobile payments startup Clinkle has opened its waiting lists to more US college students after having been initially beta-tested in the University of Stanford campus, online media outlet techcrunch.com reports.

According to the same source, Clinkle has shared very little about the actual functionality of its college student-focused mobile payments offering, choosing instead to build up its waiting list of college students ahead of the actual service roll-out. According to some sources interviewed by techcrunch.com, Clinkle’s mobile payments offering supposedly includes peer-to-peer and peer to merchant transactions capabilities.

Clinkle – which earlier in 2013 announced it had raised USD 25 million in a funding round which included over 18 investors – is expected to be rolling out its offering to college students first and then to the general public, the same source has indicated.
