Utiba Americas, a joint-venture established by mobile financial transaction platforms provider Utiba and hosted application services provider Alternet Systems, has become responsible for the development of the request for proposals (RFP) process for the mobile wallet project of the Central Bank of Ecuador.

As a result, Utiba Americas is expected to provide the Ecuadorian bank with its Utiba Mobility mobile financial services platform. The m-platform is set to allow the Central Bank of Ecuador to work on the design, deployment and testing of the upcoming mobile services.

The Ecuadorian mobile financial services project is set to provide local inhabitants with a mobile wallet for storing, sending and receiving money. The system is expected to operate throughout the entire country via mobile services provided by the three mobile network operators present in Ecuador.

The Central Bank of Ecuador administers the National Payment System of the country.

Utiba Americas is a global provider of mobile financial transaction platforms for mobile operators and financial institutions. Utiba Americas is deploying a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform in the Americas and the Caribbean region, with a focus on m-commerce and mobile financial services.

In recent news, Utiba has launched a new initiative targeting the international mobile remittances market. The new initiative offers a neutral corridor routing and currency exchange clearinghouse for mobile and traditional money remittances.
