Verizon Wireless, Convergence Technologies enter rural LTE partnership

US mobile carrier Verizon Wireless has entered an agreement with Convergence Technologies (CTI) to participate in the former’s LTE Mobile Broadband network in Rural America program. CTI is the US provider of the MitoTec business technology platform, IP Pay credit card processing and other services.

Under the terms of the deal, CTI is expected to work with Verizon Wireless to deliver 4G LTE services to rural Indiana communities within the IN-5 Cellular Market Area. As a result, this project is set to use portions of CTI’s recent USD 18 million Broadband Stimulus Project to bring 4G wireless services to underserved rural communities throughout Illinois and Indiana in the US.

In recent news , Verizon Wireless and wireless transactions provider USA Technologies have joined forces to deliver cashless payment services and machine-to-machine applications via USA Technologies’ ePort Connect Service.

In November 2010 , US-based mobile carriers Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary T-Mobile USA intend to establish a mobile payments joint venture, media outlet Reuters has claimed, citing persons with direct knowledge of the plan.
