Thursday 28 November 2013 11:38 CET | News

Brazilian telecom operator Vivo has selected Gemalto, a Dutch digital security company, to provide the TSM (Trusted Service Manager) platform.

With the Gemalto platform, the operator can offer mobile payment products and services using near field communications (NFC) technology, which enables customers to carry out financial transactions by tapping a mobile phone near a specific terminal.

With the solution in place and together with Gemalto’s UpTeq multi-tenant NFC SIM cards, Vivo is set to be able to extend its product portfolio for mobile payments, providing services to mobile customers including contactless payments, transit ticketing and financial transactions between users of the solution.

In recent news, Gemalto has been selected to supply its Optelio Contactless Stickers to financial institution UniCredit Bank in Russia to enable mobile payments.
