International payments company VocaLink has entered a partnership with US-based mobile banking services provider Clairmail to enable banks to use the latter’s Smart Client technology to deliver new services to their customers.

Under the agreement, banks are set to provide their customers with services including P2P mobile payments, enabled by VocaLink’s multi-channel service options. Furthermore, the partnership is set to enable banks to provide a roadmap of banking services through the mobile channel.

In recent news, the UK Payments Council has appointed VocaLink to build the central database that will allow customers to link their mobile phone number to their account details, irrespective of their financial services provider.
