China-based WeChat Pay has announced it has plans to expand its business in Europe, as part of its ONE FOR BILLION business initiative.

According to WeChat Pay, in April 2019 the number of European merchants offering its mobile payment method was 3.5 times higher compared to 2018. The company intends to offer mobile payment services along with long-term communications and customised customer services via its ONE platform.

WeChat Pay offers functions that aim to drive the digitalisation process for merchants in Europe who would be able to connect with Chinese customers. The company eliminates the need for transferring currencies, while WeChat Official Account allows businesses to integrate their branding and promotional information.

In addition, merchants will be able to use WeChat Mini Program to customise their services and WeChat Moments Advertising for targeted approach depending on live location and customers demographic.
