Tuesday 27 March 2018 11:46 CET | News

WhatsApp has launched support for QR codes that will enable users to send and receive mobile payments.

The feature is being tested for users in the Android beta channel and a wider rollout is expected in April 2018. Users who have enabled WhatsApp Payments will be able to send money by scanning QR codes.

WhatsApp has been testing a money transfer feature, based on the Indian UPI network, since February 2018. The app has also added a feature that would allow businesses to send invoices and receive payments.
