Wirecard, Qatar Airways to offer Alipay at Doha Airport

Tuesday 27 March 2018 10:58 CET | News

Wirecard has expanded its collaboration with Qatar Airways by partnering with Qatar Duty Free (QDF) to offer Alipay as a payment option starting from April 2018.

QDF is a wholly owned retail subsidiary of Qatar Airways and operates over 90 retail stores with over 185 points-of-sale (POS). It extended the agreement with Wirecard in order to capitalise on the tourism boom from China.

QDF is an important attraction among Chinese tourists, luxury goods (handbags, shoes and apparel) being the most in-demand products for Chinese travelers. With over 600 million active users in China, Alipay shares approximately 54.1% of China’s mobile payment market by total transaction volume.
