By adding Smart’s 46.60 million users and Globe’s 23.25 million users, Zong has a global potential reach of roughly 3 billion mobile consumers through its network of 220 carriers, as a direct result of these recent agreements.
Zong is expected to provide Philippines users with services that allow the purchase of virtual and digital goods, such as social games on Facebook or on networking platforms, as well as other digital merchant websites and mobile applications.
How it works
Consumers can pay for goods by verifying their mobile phone numbers, without signing up for a service, logging in, or entering any other personal data. Through its direct relationships with carriers, Zong will automatically add the charge to the user’s mobile carrier bill or deduct the amount from their prepaid credits.
Zong has also established direct carrier relationships with several mobile operator groups, including US mobile carriers AT&T, Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary T-Mobile, British mobile network operator Vodafone, as well as French mobile network operator Orange.
