Zong to expand mobile carrier network

Thursday 6 August 2009 07:31 CET | News

Already available today in 19 countries across 100 carriers, Zong, a US developer of mobile payment services for publishers of online games and other digital content, has revealed plans to add new carrier partners in Eastern Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia and South America.

The system is a hosted payment application specifically for micro-payment on the internet. Customers enter their mobile number in the Zong application when they buy an application or widget, the Zong application then sends a PIN number to the customer’s mobile phone which is then entered into the payment application. Users will receive the charge on their next phone bill.

The company has also announced that its mobile transaction platform has processed mobile payments for 10 million unique users to date. Zong has recently integrated its platform with US social networking website Gaia Online.
