Ally Bank adds Popmoney P2P payments to product suite

Wednesday 22 June 2011 00:38 CET | News

US financial institution Ally Bank has started offering the Popmoney person-to-person (P2P) online and mobile payments service powered by US-based money transfer services provider CashEdge.

CashEdge’s Popmoney offering is set to allow bank customers to send money from their bank accounts using a recipients email address, mobile phone number or bank account information. In addition, the service provides support for text messaging, WAP and downloadable mobile applications.

How it works

Customers need to login to their Ally Bank account and provide either the recipient’s e-mail address, mobile number or bank account information. The recipient will receive a text or e-mail to follow the steps to deposit the money online. If a bank account is provided by the sender, the money is sent directly to the recipient’s account.

In May 2011 , CashEdge extended the use of its Popmoney payments offering with the launch of the Popmoney for Prepaid service.
