Austria: Raiffeisen selects Gemalto for online banking services

Tuesday 22 May 2012 09:16 CET | News

Global financial services provider Raiffeisen Banking Group has selected Dutch digital security company Gemalto for its online banking Ezio Edge Optic service.

The Ezio Edge Optic uses CardTAN1-compliant debit cards to authenticate users, as well as authorize and sign online banking transactions. The handheld device features optical sensors to detect the online banking transaction data entered and sent from the computer screen. Raiffeisen’s online customers will only have to place the Ezio Edge in front of their computer screen and the encoded transaction data needed for verification by the user and signature generation will be read.

Raiffeisen is the first Austrian banking group that offers digital authentication devices almost everywhere across Austria. The company has introduced these services at the beginning of 2012 after an internal test.

In recent news, Gemalto has been selected by US provider of wireless and wireline communication services Sprint for its UpTeq LTE UICC (Universal Integrated Circuit Card) product and the LinqUs Advanced Connectivity OTA (Over-the-Air) platform.
