Financial services provider Banque Populaire du Rwanda (BPR) has entered a partnership with Rwanda-based telecommunications company Rwandatel to roll out an online-banking based mobile service.

The new application is set to enable BPR’s customers to perform a series of banking activities such as check their account balance, transfer funds, make bill payments, get salary SMS alerts as well as order for a cheque book, all via their mobile handsets. Moreover, the bank has revealed plans to launch a payment service at the end of every three month to allow institutions to pay their employees using the new m-banking service.

Founded in 1986, Banque Populaire du Rwanda provides financial services via its 18 branches located across Rwanda.
