Friday 2 October 2009 00:22 CET | News

Thailand-based financial services provider Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) is set to expand its online and mobile banking services within the next year and add a number of services to its portfolio offering, online news outlet nationmultimedia.com reports.

The bank will thus launch an SMS banking service, mutual funds, insurance and financial planning, in addition to the recently launched online banking widget, which allows users direct access to their internet banking accounts without having to open a browser and key in a URL. The widget also allows users to carry out online banking transfers directly from their desktops.

The same source reports that SCB currently operates around 8 million customer accounts, with only 10 percent of account holders employing online banking. Internet banking accounts for 20 percent of the 50 million transactions the bank handles on a monthly basis.
