As a result, SPD Bank accountholders are expected to be able to send Western Union money transfers directly from their accounts via online banking or their mobile phones for cash payout at Western Union agent locations in 200 countries. SPD Bank accountholders are expected to be able to access the funds via the internet, ATMs, as well as via their mobile phones.
In addition, SPD Bank is set to offer the Western Union money transfer service at 365 of its retail locations throughout China. The online banking service is expected to be activated by mid-2011, with ATM and mobile options to follow.
Moreover, Romanian Banca Transilvania accountholders are expected to be able to send money directly from their bank accounts via ATMs for cash payout at 386,000 Western Union agent locations. The receiver is then enabled to withdraw the funds via Banca Transilvania’s 780 ATMs.
To date, Western Union has entered agreements with 28 banks, in a bid to offer to more global accountholders its ABMT services.
