Braintree is expanding its payment platform into a large number of countries, including the UK, European Union, Australia, and Canada Following the expansion, merchants of all sizes in thirty countries will be able to access the same Braintree infrastructure and payment gateway as their US counterparts. Braintree will offer access to its international payment services in private beta over the next few months. The expansion is set to be completed in Q3 2012.
Allowing US and multi-national companies to accept payments in more than 130 currencies, Braintree currently processes over USD 4 billion in credit card transactions each year, including almost USD 1 billion in mobile payments. In recent news, Braintree has rolled out a plugin for e-commerce services provider Magento to make Braintree’s payment service available to 110,000 Magento merchants.
