US online payment processing services developer Braintree has secured USD 34 million in Series A funding round from the venture capital firm Accel Partners, online media outlet techcrunch.com reports.

With the new influx of capital, Braintree will improve its core products and pursue new opportunities in payments. Braintree provides Web 2.0 companies with merchant account, payment gateway, recurring billing, and credit card storage services.

In recent news, Braintree has launched a card-not-present encryption service for merchants accepting credit card payments online to enable them to eliminate the transmission and storage of credit card data.
