US provider of online money transfer services CashEdge has entered a partnership with Blackhawk Network, a US provider of prepaid and financial payment products to enhance its Popmoney P2P payments service through the addition of a number of options for sending gifts of cash or prepaid gift cards.

The Popmoney gift card service is set to enable bank customers to send retailer gift cards from their bank accounts. Gift cards can be sent to a recipient by email, mobile number or mailing address. Banks offering Popmoney can provide the option to their customers by upgrading their service. Furthermore, CashEdge has launched a service that allows customers to customize email templates for the Popmoney service.

Blackhawk Network operates the Gift Card Mall, a network which offers users access to a range of grocery, big box, convenience, drug and specialty stores and is available both offline and through internet retailers. Blackhawk Network’s business solutions include reward and incentive programs provided via a number of card brands, custom designed Visa prepaid cards and fulfillment options.

Popmoney is based on CashEdges money movement platform and includes person-to-person (P2P) payment capabilities, the OpenNow/FundNow service for new account opening and funding, TransferNow for Consumers, an application which includes Me-to-Me and third party transfers as well as TransferNow for Small Businesses. The functionality includes invoicing, Me-to-Me transfers, employee payments as well as vendor payment services. Popmoney provides support for text messaging, WAP and downloadable mobile applications.
