China: 3rd-party payment transactions reach USD 1.13 trillion in H1 2013

During H1 2013, transactions through third-party payment systems in China have reached USD 1.13 trillion (CNY 6.91), 66 percent of the value of all transactions in 2012, a recent survey indicates.

According to data from CCID Consulting, China UnionPay Merchant Services has ranked first with a market share of 46.3 percent, followed by Alipay with 17.8 percent and China Payment and Remittance Service with 6.2 percent.

The same source points out that bank point-of-sale businesses and online payment businesses are the two biggest sections in the third-party payment sector, accounting for 97.39 percent of all transactions during the period under review.
