Tuesday 5 June 2012 08:39 CET | News

Western Union has joined forces with AirPak, its Agent in Central America, to introduce the Money Transfer Receive card in El Salvador.

As a result, customers will be able to receive their money transfers on a card at participating Western Union agent locations across El Salvador.

The Money Transfer Receive card enables users of Western Union Money Transfer transactions to put all or part of a money transfer onto a prepaid MasterCard. According to Western Union, funds on a Western Union-AirPak Money Transfer Receive card can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted globally, including at ATMs and for shopping online. According to a 2010 World Bank report only 47 percent adults in El Salvador own a bank account, while the region received USD 3.6 billion in remittances in 2010.
