Facebook has selected PlaySpan, a US-based provider of monetization services for online games, virtual worlds and social networks, to expand the distribution of its Facebook Credits worldwide.

Through the new partnership, Facebook members will be able to use PlaySpan’s UltimatePay service in order to make payments for the Facebook Credits that they want to purchase. Working with PlaySpan, Facebook adds more than 20 new payment options for the Facebook Credits, with new services to be rolled out over the next months.

In addition to the already existent payment options such as PayPal, credit cards and mobile devices, users will gain access to a series of new payment methods including store-bought prepaid cards such as PaySafeCard, Wallie-card in Europe, MyCard and Gash cards in Taiwan and payment services that are popular in specific countries, such as bank transfers in Germany, Boleto Bancario in Brazil and Webmoney in Russia.

Facebook Credits are used in more than 200 games and applications on Facebook from more than 75 developers. UltimatePay delivers over 85 global payment methods in 180 countries including credit cards, PayPal, mobile payments and PlaySpan’s Ultimate Game Card, a multi-game pre-paid card, available in over 50,000 retail locations worldwide.
