Flipkart, CyberSource to enable international card payments

India-based e-commerce website Flipkart has entered an agreement with CyberSource, a global payment service provider, to enable international card transaction on its website.

Following the alliance, Flipkart will start accepting payments made using Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit/debit cards in 21 countries outside India including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US. As a result, customers outside of India will be able to purchase products and gifts on Flipkart and ship it within India.

CyberSource provides payment management services which enable enterprise and mid-size merchants to transact sales domestically and globally via internet, mobile, call center and face-to-face sales channels. Flipkart is an Amazon-like e-commerce website which offers books, electronics, mobile phones, games and software. In 2012, the company has received Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) 2.0 certification.
