GCash, UnionBank of the Philippines team up for eMoney XChange

G-XChange (GXI), a subsidiary of Philippines-based mobile operator Globe Telecom and operator of the m-commerce service GCash, has teamed up with financial services provider UnionBank of the Philippines (UnionBank) to allow customers to link their UnionBank accounts to their GCash mobile wallets.

The jointly launched service, dubbed the eMoney XChange, enables UnionBank clients with EON, E-Wallet, ePayCard and UnionBank regular savings and checking accounts to transfer funds to and from their GCash wallets via SMS through their UnionBank. This service complements the UnionBanks Globe Mobile Banking facility.

UnionBanks EON Visa Debit Card serves as payment facility for online entrepreneurs and online shoppers. GCASH is a mobile wallet facility available to Globe and TM subscribers that allows cashless and cardless method of facilitating money remittance, donations, loan settlement, disbursement of salaries or commissions, and payment of bills, products and services, via a text message. In the Philippines, GCash is intensely used for online shopping, gaming and payment websites.
