The initial roll out involves integration with Gilbarco’s Passport Point-of-Sale product, but the company has also revealed plans to integrate PayPal into its suite of media and merchandising applications. Initial efforts will have users paying for their purchases either via QR code, or by entering in their fueling position into a mobile application.
Previously, PayPal has announced partnerships with large retailer chains, including Famous Footwear, Dollar General, RadioShack, Abercrombie & Fitch, Advance Auto Parts, Aéropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, Foot Locker, the Home Depot, Jamba Juice, JC Penney, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Nine West, Office Depot, Rooms To Go, Tiger Direct and Toys “R” Us and others. The company has mentioned it has agreements with 23 merchants to offer its service in-store as of the end of 2012. Twelve of those 23 are currently live, accounting for 18,000 locations.
