According to the Google Blog, the company is currently working with existing partners to make the transition from One Pass to other platforms, including Google Consumer Surveys, which allows publishers to monetise content by enacting a “paywall substitute” that gives readers the choice of taking a microsurvey in order to read an article.
The company has also revealed that, even though the One Pass platform has been closed, Google will continue to work with publishers to build new tools. In addition to One Pass, Google has also unveiled its intentions to close down the Google Related toolbar and Google Patent Search.
The One Pass platform has been launched in February 2011 and it allowed publishers to set their own prices and terms for their digital content.
