Online group vendor Groupon has acquired FeeFighters, a US-based start-up which provides online payment services and comparison shopping for credit card processors. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed yet.

In January 2011, FeeFighters raised USD 1.6 million in a funding round led by investment companies Sandbox Industries, OCA Ventures, I2A Fund and Hyde Park Angels. The company expanded into the online payments business in September 2011.

Groupon has made about 17 acquisitions in the last 12 months, the most recent one being the acquisition of Kima Labs, a US-based mobile shopping start-up, the developer of TapBuy mobile payment application and mobile barcode reading application Barcode Hero on February 2012. The company has revealed plans to relocate the remaining FeeFighters staff to Palo Alto, California, where its engineering team is based.

Launched in 2008, Groupon features a daily deal on leisure activities, on what to eat, see and buy in 45 countries worldwide. Groupon uses collective buying power to offer huge discounts and provide a win-win for business and consumers, delivering more than 1,000 daily deals globally.
