Dutch online social networking site Hyves is set to introduce a paying service for its 8 million registered users in early 2010.

The new service, whose name has not yet been revealed, will run on the MiniTix platform, enabling users to initiate payments online and also via the mobile channel at a later stage. They can activate their e-wallet by linking it to their checking account. MiniTix is an electronic payment system introduced by Rabobank in 2003 for small payments via internet. The service accepts transaction done by NFC phones and cards and mobile applications. Once a customer of any Dutch retail bank has opened a MiniTix account, they can pay for products up to a value of EUR 100 at any online retailer displaying the MiniTix payment button.
