Live Gamer, a digital commerce and advertising platform, has added US-based start-up Openbucks to its platform in order to expand prepaid payment options for online gaming consumers in the US and Canada.

Openbucks allows consumers to use gift cards from retail brands to pay for online games and goods purchased via e-commerce websites. Consumers can purchase the gift card at one of more than 100,000 locations in the US and Canada. Online merchants can add the Openbucks payment option to their shopping cart through an application programming interface (API).

In July 2012, Openbucks has secured USD 4.8 million in Series A funding round led by Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang.
