MOL partners Electronic Arts to distribute prepaid game cards

Asian payment services provider MOL AccessPortal Sdn Bhd (MOL) has partnered Electronic Arts, a US-based developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games to distribute prepaid game cards which are now available in more than 600,000 channels in 6 countries in Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Thailand and the Philippines.

The prepaid game cards can be used by players to purchase virtual goods for EA and Playfish social games, including The Sims Social, Pet Society, Restaurant City and EA Sports Fifa superstars. Players can purchase the cards for EA and Playfish games via online systems and retail chains such as 7-Eleven stores in Singapore and Malaysia, cybercafes, with which MOL affiliated, including Indias Sify Cybercafes and Philippines Netopia internet cafes, online banking services such as Maybank2u and telecommunication partners like Singapores SingTel GXCredits, Indonesias Indosat I-Pay and Thailands One-2-Call.

Furthermore, MOL has signed an agreement with TransferTo, the Singapore-based global mobile airtime transfer company TransferTo, to deliver international top-up services with MOLPoints.

Following this partnership, MOL users in Malaysia are able to use MOLPoints to purchase mobile credits via TransferTos top-up system at over 19,700 physical payment channels nationwide.

MOLPoints is a virtual currency used by online consumers in Asia to acquire online credits and digital goods. TransferTo supports multiple payment channels enabling phone to phone, POS to phone and web to phone top-up transfers.
