NetCents Systems, World Accessibility partner to customise payment system for people with disabilities

Thursday 12 April 2012 10:50 CET | News

NetCents Systems, a payment services provider, which will be acquired by development company On4 Communications, has entered an agreement with World Accessibility, a Canadian company which handles issues regarding rights and access for people with disabilities.

Under the terms of the deal, NetCents and World Accessibility will jointly develop and market a turnkey online payment system aimed at consumers with disabilities. World Accessibility will bundle the NetCents payment system as part of its portfolio of services.

The NetCents system will allow people with disabilities to accept payments from institutions such as insurance companies, charities or governments in an electronic format. Users will be able to use the system to pay service providers including nurses or attendants online without having to rely on a third party such as a lawyer, accountant or trustee to write and deliver a cheque.

A recent World Health Organization report has indicated that 15 percent of the worlds population lives with some form of disability. In Canada, there are more than 5.2 million people with disabilities, and most of them do not have access to a credit card.
