Ogone, ekmPowershop enter strategic alliance

Belgium-based online payment processing services provider Ogone Payment Services has entered a strategic alliance with ekmPowershop, a UK-based e-commerce provider.

The partnership provides ekmPowershop and its merchants with an e-commerce solution with a pre-integrated payment system to connect to more than 200 banks and 80 local, international and alternative payment methods. Additionally, following the alliance, businesses will be able to develop an online sales channel in the UK and Europe.

Currently, Ogone enables more than 35,000 customers to operate internationally in 45 countries using its connections via certified links with over 200 different banks and acquirers. The company is able to handle international payments as well as local payment methods, such as ELV and giropay in Germany, Carte Bleue in France, iDeal and Machtigingen in the Netherlands, Bancontact/Mister Cash in Belgium and local payment methods in India and the Middle East.

In July 2012, Ogone has entered an agreement with telecom company Belgacom, to acquire Tunz.com, an e-Money issuer. In addition, the companies have agreed to further develop their cooperation in the domain of electronic and mobile payments.
