PayPal to power the wCharge Credit Card Terminal from Transaction Wireless

US mobile commerce payment and marketing company Transaction Wireless has entered an agreement with PayPal to power its wCharge Credit Card Terminal, thus allowing small merchants to accept credit card payments via a standard mobile phone.

wCharge by Transaction Wireless turns a standard mobile phone into a credit card terminal without any extra equipment. Under the terms of the new agreement, the wCharge Credit Card Terminal will allow PayPal Website Payments Pro users to accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diner’s Club and Discover credit cards and issue receipts to customers mobile phones or email addresses.

All credit card activity is secured via an encrypted SSL network and specific card numbers are removed from the mobile phone instantly, converting to order codes in order to provide additional protection. The wCharge Terminal by Transaction Wireless service will work with any mobile phone and with all US mobile carriers. Merchants who wish to employ the new service will pay a subscription fee for the service in addition to the PayPal fees.
