The newspaper has already run an experiment with a subscription-based model and plans to roll it out on a larger scale in “the months ahead”, according to marketingmag.ca.
Postmedia has previously rolled out a test program at the recently sold Victoria Times Colonist and Montreal Gazette.
As part of this experiment, Gazzette’s subscribers have free access, but non-subrscribes must pay a monthly fee of USD 6.95.
Online readers who do not have a subscription will have limited access once the website will be metered.
