SafetyPay, giropay partner for secure internet payments in Germany

SafetyPay, the online-banking payment solution which enables consumers to shop from merchants worldwide and pay directly from their bank account in their local currency, has entered an agreement with German online banking-based online payment services provider giropay.

The partnership will enable German customers of banks participating in the giropay scheme, to purchase goods and services in Europe, the US, Canada and Latin America from within their usual online banking session. Additionally, German online merchants are now able to address over 300 million bank customers worldwide via SafetyPay.

giropay is a joint project of German retail bank Deutsche Postbank, the Sparkassen financial group and the IT departments of the Volksbanks and Raiffeisen banks. giropay is also accepted via online payment systems such as PayPal and ClickandBuy or directly in the online shops of vendors. Covering more than 1,500 banks in Germany, giropay can be used by over 24 million online banking customers in the country.

SafetyPay enables customers to make purchases directly from their bank account or with cash in their local currency. SafetyPay focuses on the travel industry, digital goods and merchants who are looking to sell internationally. SafetyPay provides access to almost 300 million bank customers in Europe, US, Canada and Latin America.
