Stripe enables developers to complete transactions without setting up merchant accounts and dealing with banks. The service is customised for web developers who want to make the application according to their specific requirements. The API allows developers to build their own payment forms avoiding PCI requirements and accepts payments by using minimal coding.
The initiative follows a similar private beta launch in Australia – the company’s first expansion into the Asia-Pacific region – as well as a full roll-out in the UK that kicked off in March 2013.
Stripe is currently also available as a private beta in Belgium, France, Ireland and the Netherlands; the service is open to everyone in the US and Canada too.
In recent news, Stripe has entered an agreement with Kabbage, a US-based provider of financing services to small and medium-sized merchants. Under the terms of the alliance, Kabbage can now underwrite Stripe customers based exclusively on Stripe’s payment processing data.
